Val Lougheed, NLC President, receives Distinguished Person Award

Our President, Val Lougheed, is being presented with the Access Awareness Distinguished Person Award this week through Access Awareness in Calgary. The organization's mission is to promote through positive action, participation and coordination a barrier-free society for all Calgarians with disabilities.

Val has been actively involved in the development and promotion of community supports which serve the needs of people with disabilities and enhances their independence since being involved in a car accident in 2003. She sustained catastrophic orthopaedic injuries and a brain injury. Val now speaks of her experiences, combining her unique perspective as a patient/client and a practitioner.
