Ben came to Agilec with a clear goal – to build a career in the restaurant industry, aiming for roles such as a dishwasher or kitchen helper. As a person living with a disability, Ben approached his job search with remarkable determination, never missing a single meeting and personally delivering resumes to restaurants across the region.
What stood out most was Ben’s unwavering persistence. At every meeting, he and his Employment Consultant applied to five or six restaurants together, following up diligently – even reapplying to the same jobs when needed. That determination ultimately opened the right door.
When a local restaurant announced a job fair, Ben seized the opportunity. His Employment Consultant connected with the restaurant’s manager, sharing details about Agilec’s placement and retention supports to ensure a smooth transition.
Ben’s commitment paid off. He began a placement there, quickly connecting with the team, enjoying the work environment and impressing the manager with his reliability and positive attitude. Before long, he was offered a full-time position.
Ben’s story demonstrates what’s possible when persistence meets opportunity, highlighting the impact of inclusive hiring and the transformative effect of believing in a person’s potential.
