MAINTENANCE TEAM MEMBER
George Martin & Sons Inc. is a Contractor and Property Maintenance Company located in Port Carling seeking seasonal employees for general maintenance work.
Position Description
• George Martin & Sons Inc. performs dockside garbage and recycling collection services on Lake Muskoka, Rosseau and Joseph from Victoria Day to Thanksgiving.
• We offer our clients various services from our service list and any other requests as they arise, including the following:
• Spring & Fall property clean-ups including leaf raking and blowing
• Gardening services
• Lawn Mowing and general yard work
• Brush removal, garbage & junk removal
• Barging and delivery services
Working Conditions
• Your day-to-day work can consist of working on water on our barges or working on land at a client’s property or owners farm and property.
• Prospective employee must be able to swim.
• Work weeks are seasonal / weather dependent – Monday to Friday
• Must be able to commit to 1 Saturday per month from May to August.
• Job is physically demanding and outdoors.
• Work in inclement weather conditions.
• Manual lifting and carrying.
• Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure.
Job Requirements
• Valid G drivers licence with clean drivers abstract.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work daily.
• Punctual and reliable. Must be a team player. Work independently if required with little supervision.
• Boating license and knowledge of the lakes would be an asset.
• Experience in landscape maintenance and related equipment including leaf blowers, trimmers, chippers, mowers, etc.
• Proficient in English both spoken and written
• Will need to complete online training courses (WHIMS, Ladder Training and Worker Health & Safety Awareness) before start date.
• Steel-toed safety boots, eye and ear protection and gloves required.
• Dress code of company t-shirts, sweatshirts required to be worn. 2 t-shirts and 1 sweatshirt provided when hired.
• Smart Serve an asset as our clients request workers on occasion for private functions and events on evenings and weekends.
Employment Start Date & Wages
• Start Spring 2025 – May / June
• Wages / remuneration will depend on experience – range of $20.00 to $25.00 per hr.
