Northern Lights Canada (NLC) is a proud supporter of the communities we live in. NLC recently made donations to 18 charities in recognition of the vital impact these organizations make to our communities and our lives. Each charity was chosen locally by an NLC office providing a combined amount of $36,000 donated to various charities across Ontario.
Northern Lights Canada Corporate Head Office presented a $2,000 cheque to the AIDS Committee of Durham Region - a community-based, non-profit, charitable organization. Tiff Idems, Program Manager of Support Services shared the following:
The AIDS Committee of Durham Region thanks Northern Lights Canada for its generous support. At ACDR, our goal is to engage, empower and build the capacity of people living with HIV/AIDS, individuals, families and communities affected by and at-risk of HIV/AIDS, and the general community by offering support and education services within Durham Region. We offer a range of holistic support services such as support groups, case management, counselling, financial assistance with medical expenses, food, vitamins, volunteer drivers to medical appointments, home visits, hospital visits, individual advocacy, medical services (provided by OCHC), naturopathic services, acupuncture, complementary therapies, peer mentoring, skills development opportunities such as workshops/conferences, interagency supports and community partnerships. The generous donation provided by Northern Lights Canada will help us respond to the needs of community members in the current fiscal climate when demand is outpacing resources. We will apply your donation towards the Volunteer Driver Program and Vitamin Bank Program.
