Better Jobs Ontario
Formerly known as Second Career, the Better Jobs Ontario (BJO) program supports unemployed individuals in need of skills training to help find employment in in-demand occupations.
Better Jobs Ontario is intended for individuals who do not have the financial resources to access skills training.
Financial assistance during skills training may be provided to individuals to cover all or a portion of the cost of tuition, expenses and costs of participating in skills training such as expenses relating to dependent care, disability needs, transportation, and basic living expenses.
Participants of the program must:
be a resident of Ontario, AND
be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident legally authorized to work in Canada or have a 900 SIN awaiting for their permanent residency, AND
have been laid-off and have not been working or are working a temporary job just to cover costs, OR
have not been laid-off but have been unemployed for six months or longer and are part of a low-income household.
This Employment Ontario service is funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario.
