Functional Job Coaching

Designed to address physical challenges an employee may be facing in meeting essential job demands. Sessions can focus on body mechanics training, proper ergonomics, pacing/compensatory strategies, energy conservation techniques and/or safe work practices. Ultimately, employees will gain skills, strategies, techniques, and knowledge in these areas which can be used post job coaching to assist with safe and sustainable job retention.

Cognitive Job Coaching

Designed to address cognitive challenges an employee may be facing (e.g., TBI, PTSD, etc.) in meeting essential job demands.  In cases where these individuals also experience a range of physical and/or emotional symptoms, a combination of Functional and Cognitive Job Coaching can be introduced. Cognitive Job Coaching addresses areas of deficit and assists the employee in gaining the skills, knowledge, and behaviours required to perform their job accurately, efficiently, and safely with the goal of sustainable job retention.

Katie’s Journey:
Service, Support, and Success

Currently accessing ODSP services, Katie came into Agilec for assistance with finding a job. She was quickly connected with an Employment Consultant and they got to work on developing a strategic plan to help her achieve her employment goals. They began by updating her resume to distribute to local employers.

As they continued working together, they focused on building upon Katie’s skill set – this included using Indeed for online job searching. Katie was able to start applying for positions online, actively using Indeed to expand her job search. Her confidence and determination stretched further as she began distributing her resume and promoting her skills and abilities in-person to local employers .

After a few successful interviews, Katie accepted a position with the local Your Independent Grocer (YIG) as a Stock Clerk. Since starting her position, Katie has been working with Agilec’s VRC team, receiving on-site Job Coaching to address any challenges she encounters in her new role. After speaking with management at YIG, they let Katie’s Job Coach know that she is an amazing worker and after three months of successful employment, she still brings a positive, can-do attitude to every shift.
