Website Crowne Plaza

Accountable for overall success of the daily kitchen operations. Works to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget. Supervises all kitchen areas to ensure a consistent, high quality product is produced. Responsible for guiding and developing staff including direct reports. Must ensure sanitation and food standards are achieved.
Overview of Responsibilities:
• Day-to-day management of the kitchen along with Executive Chef
• Manage the assigned kitchen team, delegating tasks and responsibilities effectively
• Lead and inspire the kitchen team, including motivating, training, scheduling, and performance management
• Liaise with F&B Manager and Culinary team for menu development & design
• Ensure controllable costs meet monthly budget, contribute to annual budget development process
• Assist with recruiting and training all kitchen personnel, including culinary management
• Ensure a smooth and efficient service
• Maintain the standards and expectations of the restaurant & banquets
• Create and maintain an environment that encourages the learning and development of the team
• Develop relationships with food vendors
• Improves service by communicating and assisting individuals to understand guest needs, providing guidance, feedback, and individual coaching when needed
• Trains employees in safety procedures.
Requirements for Success:
• A broad range of culinary experience, with expert ability in various styles and techniques
• Ability to read and follow recipes and standards as well as develop recipes for new menu items
• A genuine passion for food and hospitality, an understanding of current food trends, culture, and industry developments
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Capable of teaching, mentoring, and inspiring a team with experience leading a kitchen in a high volume, upscale restaurant
• Ability to work under pressure with excellent attention to detail
• Able to collaborate as a member of a team to create positive experiences for guests and employees
• The right to work in Canada
• Red seal certification is considered an asset but not required
• Experience leading teams of 5 or more
• Banquet or large quantity cooking experience
• 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role or combination of experience and education in the hospitality field

• Kitchener, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
