Chef – Full Time Temporary Position, Monday to Friday (5:30 am to 1:00 pm) Minimum of 8 Weeks

Position Summary

The Chef position is responsible for all aspects of preparing lunch for independent living seniors, as well as occasional special event catering.

The Chef is required to perform their duties in a manner consistent with the core values and employee guiding principles and demonstrate customer service excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities

·        Prepare nutritious and various meals on a weekly basis through the Meal Program.

·        Ensure kitchen facility is operated efficiently and in compliance with Health and Safety regulations and standards and organizational expectations.

·        Provide catering for Special Events as requested and approved.

·        Liaise with Public Health Inspectors and/or contractors as required.

·        Ensure the provision of quality nutritional care through menu planning and the maintenance of high standards of food preparation and service.

·        Ensure maintenance of an appropriate menu recording system.

·        Coordinate the purchasing of food and other dietary supplies.

·        Maintain professional and respectful communication with residents, staff and contractors.

·        Consult with Supervisor to plan meal selection and menu options.

·        Accountable for compliance with approved food services budget.

·        Perform other related duties as required.


·        Must have a diploma/certificate or equivalent experience in quality food preparation and production.

·        Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including 3rd booster

·        Must be experienced as a Cook

·        Must be able to work independently.

·        Current Food Handler Certification

·        Must have good command of the English language, both oral and written skills.

·        Police Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening will be required of the successful candidate.
