Purpose of Position:
Managing an effective and efficient Purchase Planning, Materials and Inventory Control Team that minimizes cost of purchased parts and inventories while maintaining optimum inventory and avoid out-of-stock situations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Drive and Manage Supplier performance with constant review and evaluation. Ensure supply chain continuity with Domestic & offshore supplier base.
· Targeted cost reductions in material costs and variance. Drive Logistical efficiencies, cost effectiveness and Freight-in reductions.
· Be highly knowledgeable of Purchase planning, Material & Inventory Control processes to lead the team of Buyers, purchase planning and Inventory control staff.
· Drive Inventory accuracy improvements, improve processes for optimum inventory levels and reduce supplier lead-times, manage cycle count program, including root cause analysis. Review MOQ and adjust based on business needs.
· Manage & improve the process for Defective materials, resolution and charge back.
· Set up targets for Cost Saving initiatives, price reductions, addressing price increases with Buyers.
· Improve process to identify and resolve obsolescence.
· Develop and improve measurement system for Purchase planning, Materials & Inventory management performance.
· Manage and develop a team of Buyers/Planners/Cycle Counters/ Receivers & Warehouse personnel.
· Adherence to all H&S policies and the OHSA.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Relevant Degree / Diploma in Materials Management / Purchasing / Inventory control. CPIM designation.
· Experience in Purchase planning, Materials & Inventory Control for 10+ years of proven track record.
· Specific courses dealing with Purchasing, Materials & Inventory Control etc.
· Computer skills required in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel. Experience in MRP environment.
· Prior experience with purchasing wood, Veneer, Sheet Goods, steel, foam, plastic, PU parts and upholstery fabric / Vinyl / Leather materials will be an asset
