This position reports to Design Manager. The role of the Design Supervisor is integral to the success of the design department. The Design Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the truss designers and the design coordinator.

Job Duties:
• Lead and manage a team of truss designers, providing guidance, support, and mentoring to ensure optimal performance and professional growth
• Ensure all Tarpin design processes and procedures are utilized within the lumber, floors and Truss designs
• Design optimized projects utilizing MiTek and other design related software
• Ensures all assigned jobs are completed meeting the current schedule
• Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, encouraging creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement within the design team
• Takes initiative to solve problems for internal and external customers through efficient troubleshooting, effective plan reading, by communicating any issues and/or concerns to the appropriate people, and by documenting the solution/s
• Monitor and track project progress, ensuring timely completion of designs and delivery of accurate drawings to production
• Consistently demonstrates an effort to maintain an efficient and organized working environment
• Promotes a unified approach to meeting challenges through effective cooperation and collaboration with all design team members and other departments when required
• Conduct regular design reviews and quality checks to identify and address any design errors, conflicts, or inconsistencies
• Lead and coach design team members to improve their skill set as needed
• Build and nurture a cohesive team consistent with the company culture
• Create and support best in class design standards, layouts, and protocols
• Work lean, easily identifying waste and implementing improvements
• Always keep safety & quality in mind
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
• Post-secondary education or technical training courses in Architecture, Engineering, or Drafting
• Must complete MiTek University upon hiring
• Strong attention to detail
• Highly motivated, results-oriented, driven, with a willingness to learn
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Service oriented; build relationships with customers, and internal/external parties demonstrating tack and diplomacy
• Work closely with Sales team
• Ability to prepare/complete lumber take offs using Planswift (an asset)

• Design and customer service experience 2-5 years
• Supervisory experience 1-3 years
• Experience reading blueprints
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Experienced working in a fast-paced open office environment
• Knowledge of and worked with Ontario Building Code Park 4 and 9
